E3 : Effective – Easy – Efficient

E : “Good” in Japanese

All life originates from the sea. This may explain why swimming has long been part of our history for both survival and recreation. 10,000 year old drawings of breaststroke swimmers have been found on the walls of caves. As long as men and women could swim, they have desired a more effective, easy and efficient way to swim. Leonardo da Vinci wanted to invent a lifebelt that would help swimmers. Countless authors throughout history and around the world have written books entitled “The Art of Swimming.”  When swimming became a competitive sport in the 1830’s, in addition to swimming better, men and women wanted to swim faster.

E3 Fit swimming programs offer a holistic approach to swimming better and faster. Both mental and physical preparation are essential for effective, easy and efficient swimming. Both an infant and an adult must first feel comfortable in the water before being able to swim properly. Mental preparation is needed before stepping onto the pool’s starting block or standing on the beach waiting for the start of the triathlon. Mental preparation can help an open water swimmer avoid the panic that often comes within the first five minutes of the event. E3 Fit swimming programs prepare the swimmer mentally by simulating conditions experienced during the swim such as swimming as a group in the pool. Anxiety management techniques such as assessing the water’s temperature, depth, taste, current and sea floor before an open water swim, are also taught.

“Mental preparation can help an open water swimmer avoid the panic that often comes within the first five minutes of the event.”

“The correct body position cannot be maintained and the proper stroke cannot be executed without a strong core and flexibility.”

Physical preparation is also necessary. E3 Fit programs include dry land conditioning for flexibility and a strong body core. The correct body position cannot be maintained and the proper stroke cannot be executed without a strong core and flexibility. The E3 Fit stretching exercises and core strength training outside the pool are specifically designed for swimmers.

A faster freestyle swim is the most common objective of competitive swimmers, particularly for triathletes and open water swimmers. Repetitive freestyle swimming  drills, using paddles and fins, will result in some improvement. But that improvement will be limited. E3 Fit swimming programs run on the premise that all four swim strokes, i.e., fly, breast, back and free, must be practiced to achieve the fastest freestyle swim. The technical mechanics of all four swim strokes are taught and practiced in E3 Fit swimming programs. This helps the swimmer experience the “feel” of the water which elite swimmers often say they have when they are performing at their best.

Only One Rule for E3 Fitters

E3 Fit swimming programs have only one rule: E3 Fitters must end each training session with a smile.
